AUSTIN COMEDIANS TALK ABOUT THEIR TRAVEL STAY AT AIRSTREAM STAYS AT BUDA PLACE!
The comedy scene across this country has been booming the last few years , and Buda, Texas is no exception. In the aftermath of the COVID-19 chaos, people are desperate for a good laugh to calm their frayed nerves. Enter Buda Place RV Resort, an oasis from the heat and source of comedic delights for our weary travelers, where we’ve been curating monthly events for our guests staying at the park.
Picture this: the sweltering Texas sun setting behind the barn, a repurposed barn full of misters and blowing fans near the lake, and the comedic stylings of some of Austin Texas up and coming comedians Audrey Scott and Tai Nguyen dishing out their best material. They’ve graced our park with their presence, shacking up in our luxurious Airstreams, nestled by the tranquil lake, and soaking in the various amenities we offer.
We cornered Audrey and Tai for a chat, discussing their stay at Buda Place and thoughts on their favorite spots where guests can find the best comedy in Buda and Austin!

AUSTIN’S THRIVING COMEDY SCENE COMES TO BUDA PLACE RV RESORT
So Audrey tell me about your experience performing at Buda Place and tell me how it is to perform with guests at an RV park?
“I had a blast performing there! I was a little worried about the children and my jokes terrifying them.. but that never happened. Everyone including the staff and musicians were extremely supportive. Over all, the atmosphere of the show was welcoming and quite fun loving.”
What’s it like to perform in front of kids?
“Um... SCARY! I never want to say the wrong thing and have them asking their parents about it later 😂 Also, kids are SAVAGES! I get more nervous of their opinion of me more than adults!”
How long have you been doing comedy and how would you describe the scene in Austin now?
“Almost five years now. This scene is booming... new clubs and comics arriving all the time. I’m glad I moved here in 2021. It gave me a leg up in the scene.”
Any run ins with Joe Rogan and crew?
“I’m friends with most the comic crew. I’ve met Rogan personally when I was on Kill Tony. That was back when I first moved here.”
You got to spend a few nights in the park at our airstream stays, what did you guys think of the airstreams and what were your favorite aspects ?
“I absolutely loved it. My favorite part is the specific themes of every RV . You never know what you’re gonna get! It’s also nice being on the water, and having a grille with a porch just by the same [lake]. The amenities are phenomenal.”
What were your favorite amenities?
“Like I said, the grill, the beautiful pool, and the Bluetooth speaker in the RV! Also the people that live at the resort are extremely kind.”
How would you describe your comedy ?
“I have always been into the obscure.. Eric Andre, Aqua Teen, Sponge Bob, etc. I was raised Mormon so I didn’t really watch a lot of standup growing up. When I first started I thought
I wanted to be just like Mitch Hedberg.. but further down the road I realized that was never my voice.
I went to college twice and studied Environmental Science and Political Science. I like my comedy to have a point, a meaning. I hate to pander but I want the audience to think. My job as a comedian is to analyze and critique society with humor. My goal is to spread a message and be weird and comical in the process.”
Thank you for chatting with us, Tai. You came and performed twice with us and were a big hit. What was your first impression performing at Buda place RV resort?
“My first impression is this is a place people come to buy time to find themselves or
are bored of the suburban neighborhood lifestyle.”
How do you change your act when you play at a RV park?
“I obliterate profanity from my comedy set and do materials that a family can relate to.”
A follow up question too. What are some jokes that you like to tell that families can relate to?
“Jokes I like to tell that families can relate to are jokes about my upbringing in America, dating, and the perils of having kids.”
How has Comedy changed since you started? Have you found that certain subjects are off limits?
“Comedy is a lot more popular now because around in the morning while brainstorming myself. I love how the Airstream have a TV connected to WiFi that allows me to watch Amazon Prime movies. There’s a coffee maker which is convenient for a coffee lover people needed to laugh after Covid. Off limits subjects are good challenges to see if you can make fun of society taboos.”
Do you ever travel yourself? Do you ever go on the road to different clubs and have you considered staying in an RV?
“I traveled for comedy on airplanes but never an RV before. I would love to in the future so I can enjoy the sights."
You stayed with us twice at our airstream stays which Airstream did you stay in and what did you think of each of them?
“I stayed in the silver airstreams. I forgot their names. I like they because they make me feel like I’m on an adventure and I can go anywhere at a whim noticed.”
That’s awesome! Where would you like to travel to if given the chance?
“I’d like to travel to Arizona, New York, and Washington .”
How would you describe your comedy and who are some of your influences?
“I described my comedy as offensive to dumb people. Some of my influences are Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, and Bill Hicks.”

That’s awesome ! What were your favorite amenities at the park? And in the airstreams themselves?
“My favorite amenities is the pool/spa and the lake around the Airstream which I can walk
as myself. I like the outdoor grill by the airstream which I can BBQ if I needed to.”
You have performed on Kill Tony. How would you describe your experience doing that?
“Kill Tony is an amazing opportunity to gain new fans and get brutally make fun of.”

AUSTIN TEXAS’ COMEDY SCENE HAS GROWN TREMENDOUSLY IN THE LAST FEW YEARS
You perform all over Austin and surrounding areas where are some places that people at the park can come and see you what are your favorite places to perform at? And what can they expect?
AUDREY SCOTT:
“I bartend at Rozco’s Comedy Club. I also produce a show there by the name of “Outcasts Only.” Next “Outcasts” show is June 29th at 8pm. I’ll also be at Shakespeare’s on June 16th at 8 pm. I’d say for my personal comedy... prepare to be shocked by the contrast of my baby face vs my material. I’m very raw. I like to make a point with my comedy though.”
What clubs could some of our guests find you in Austin? What are the cool spots in your opinion for people traveling through Buda Place to come and see some of the best that Austin has to offer for Comedy?
TAI NGUYEN:
“They can catch me at THE GREEN ROOM and THE SPOT COMEDY CLUB. I suggest tourists coming through Buda to check out CREEK AND THE CAVE and EAST AUSTIN COMEDY CLUB.”
There has been a big influx of new comedy clubs in Austin in the last couple years.
What are your favorite clubs to go see Comedy yourself?
TAI NGUYEN:
“My favorite clubs to see comedy itself is THE MOTHERSHIP and CAP CITY COMEDY CLUB.”
Do you know of any scene in Buda Texas for comedy? Are there any clubs in Buda?
TAI NGUYEN:
“A bar called MERIDIAN in Buda has a fantastic comedy showcase every Tuesday at 8pm.”
THE COMEDY MOTHERSHIP:

Located in the heart of 6th street, the Ritz theater was bought by comedian, podcaster and commentator Joe Rogan. During the following year the building was renovated under the design of Austin Architect Richard Weiss to turn it into The Comedy Mothership, a standup comedy nightclub destination. Fulfilling a dream and vision Joe Rogan had of providing a comedy community here in Austin that will draw comics from all around the world.

Cap City Comedy Club is a contemporary entertainment venue that bring stadium-sized talent to an intimate theater on a weekly basis. For a modest ticket price, patrons enjoy live standup comedy and other performance art from a nationally accredited act, no more than 60 feet away.
